Vials of karma-HCG® injection contains highly purified Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (HCG) as a white, freeze-dried, sterile and pyrogen-free powder. Each vial of karma-HCG® contains Chorionic Gonadotrophin B.P. (Human) 5000 IU.


Chorionic Gonadotrophin (HCG) is a hormonal substance obtained from urine of pregnant women. Its action is predominantly luteinizing.


Anovulatory infertility: In the female, karma-HCG® Inj. is used in the treatment of anovulatory infertility. where its administration would form part of recognized treatment regimen involving the prior stimulation of follicular maturation and endometrial proliferation e.q. with Menotropin Injection (karma-HMG®). Hypogonadotrophin hypogonadism and cryptochidism: In the male, karma-HCG® Inj. stimulates the interstitial cells of the testes and consequently the secretion of androgens and the development of secondary sexual characteristics. With concomitant Menotropin Inj. therapy, karma-HCG® Inj. stimulates the induction and maintenance of spermatogenesis.

karma-HCG® is given by intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. The injection should be reconstituted with Sodium Chloride Injection B.P. provided, immediately prior to use.

Anovulatory infertility:

karma-HCG® Inj. 10000 I.U. is administered in mid-cycle, following treatment with Menotropin Inj. (karma-HMG®) according to a recognized scheme. Details of Menotropin Inj. dosage and monitoring are available on request.

Hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism:

karma-HCG® Inj. 2000 I.U. twice weekly concomitant with Menotropin Inj. (1 vial three times a week) if necessary, for a minimum period of four months.


1000 I.U. on alternate days for several weeks.

karma-FSH® is a drug that should be used by physicians who are thoroughly familiar with infertility problems.

1. karma-FSH® should be used only with appropriate monitoring facilities.

2. Lowest dose consistent with expectation of good result should be used.

Ovarian response should be carefully monitored to minimize the risk of overstimulation.

If the ovaries are abnormally enlarged on last day of karma-FSH® therapy, HCG should not be administered in this course therapy. This reduces development of OHSS (Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome).


Vials of karma-HCG® Inj. should be stored between °2C–°8C. Do not freeze. Protect from light. Reconstituted solution should be used immediately after preparation, any unused portion should be discarded. Keep out of reach of children.


karma-HCG® Inj. 5000 IU packed as three vials with dry substance and accompanied by three ampoules of 1ml Sodium Chloride Injection B.P. as solvent.


Sealed and unopened containers, when stored as recommended have a shelf life of 24 months from date of manufacturing.
